Paraglider pilot flying in strong conditions, was seen to fly downwind behind the ridge whilst low. The pilot reappeared almost upside down in his harness. He then flew downwind again and the canopy was seen to collapse. Pilot was uninjured.

The pilot followed ridge to a position in which the ridge and wind direction were almost parallel. As he was unable to penetrate back upwind the pilot attempted to land on a small grassy area, turbulence led to a frontal collapse pilot impacted rocks.

During landing the canopys wing tip fell onto a pilot. The pilot then noticed a line trapped in the Brummel hook on the speed system. The line had been damaged by the hook. The diameter of the gap in the hooks was smaller than line diameter.
