Summary
While on speedbar in sinking air between thermals glider had frontal collapsed then dived and rotated partially trapping pilot's hand. Pilot threw parachute immediately but could not disable canopy. Parachute was flying backwards and pilot landed hard on his back.

Using a particular 'cross brake' reverse launch technique, pilot found that the brake line was getting caught in the magnetic keepers for the brake handles. Pilot noted that others had had similar problems. Pilot modified keepers.
